The province is reporting its lowest amount of hospitalized patients suffering from COVID-19 in more than eight months.
In it’s daily COVID-19 update, the province said there were 43 people in hospital across Saskatchewan Wednesday, the fewest since Nov. 9, 2020.
The province also reported 50 new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.
The new cases are located in the following zones: far northwest (10), far north-central (eight), northwest (one), north-central (two), northeast (one), Saskatoon (13), central-east (three), Regina (seven), southwest (one), south-central (one), southeast (one).
Two cases are without hometown information. One case previously without a hometown was assigned to the north-central zone.
An additional 15 cases tested out of the provinces were added to the following zones: far northwest (six), far northeast (one), northwest (four), Saskatoon (two), and central-west (two).
No new deaths were reported Wednesday. The total number of COVID-19 deaths remains at 578.
There is a total of 49,830 cases with 48,876 and cases recoveries and 376 cases considered active.
Of the 43 people in hospital — 34 are receiving inpatient care in the far northwest (one) northwest (two) north-central (four) Saskatoon (14), Regina (10), south-central (two), and southeast (one).
Nine people are in intensive care in the north-central (one) Saskatoon (five) and Regina (three).
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number remains at 41, or 3.4 new cases per 100,000.
Vaccination update
An additional 4,562 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,394,825.
Vaccines were given in the far northwest (53), far north-central (one), far northeast (104), northwest (315), north-central (315), northeast (257), Saskatoon (1,086), central-west (193), central-east (301), Regina (1,125), southwest (76), south-central (69) and southeast (441) zones.
There were 166 doses administered without a known hometown.
Seventy-four per cent of those 12 and older have received their first dose and 63 per cent of those 12 and older are fully vaccinated, according to the provincial daily update.
As of Aug. 8, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is shifting their vaccination focus from mass vaccination to an outreach model, targeting those in the province who are under or unvaccinated.
